Book Lending / Circulation
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Book Lending / Circulation Policy is to define the rules and procedures for issue, return, renewal, reservation, and overall use of library resources. The policy ensures fair access, optimum utilization of resources, and smooth functioning of the college library.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all library users of the college, including students, teaching staff, non-teaching staff, research scholars, and other authorized members.
3. Library Membership
- All enrolled students and employees of the college are eligible for library membership.
- Library membership is issued on production of a valid College ID card.
- Membership remains valid for the duration of association with the college.
4. Book Lending Entitlement
Students
- Undergraduate: Up to 3 books for 30 days
- Postgraduate: Up to 3 books for 30 days
Teaching Staff
- Up to 10 books for 60 days
- Renewal every after 60 days
Non-Teaching Staff
- Up to 3 books for 30 days
5. Issue Procedure
- Books are issued against a valid Library Card / College ID.
- Users must check the physical condition of books before borrowing.
- Reference books, rare books, periodicals, newspapers, and project reports are not issued for home lending.
6. Renewal of Books
- Books may be renewed once, subject to availability and non-reservation by other users.
- Renewal can be done at the circulation counter or through the Library Management System (LMS).
7. Overdue Charges / Fine
A fine of ₹2 per book per day will be charged for overdue books (the college may revise the amount).
8. Loss or Damage of Books
- Borrowers are responsible for the books issued to them.
- In case of loss, the borrower must replace the same or the latest edition of the book.
- If replacement is not possible, the borrower must pay the cost of the book along with a processing charge as decided by the library.
OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) Access Link
Prerna College Library offers an OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility to facilitate easy and efficient searching and locating of library resources. OPAC enables users to access bibliographic details of books and other materials available in the library collection.
Access to OPAC: OPAC can be accessed:
- Through computers available in the library premises.
- Via the college library section.
